The cost of live-in care is very much dependent on the care needs of the person being supported and their preferences. So, how much does live-in care cost?
Live-in Care (24-hour home care) starts from £115 a day depending on your care needs and how many people require care.
Starting at: £115/day
Starting at: £145/day
Starting at: £180/day
With the help and support of our carefully selected carers, you will have the opportunity to live your life as you want to.
Whether you’re looking for companionship for a relative or you have some specific health needs that mean you require extra support, live-in care provides a full-time solution and is a realistic and affordable alternative to moving into a care home.
By living in your home, our care workers can help you to continue to live independently.
From support for those living with different types of dementia, the elderly, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, or those with complex medical needs, live-in care allows you to receive person-centred care and one-to-one support in your home.
Familiarity, regular routines, and being cared for at home can slow the progression of many medical conditions like dementia symptoms or provide much-needed structure for autistic adults.
If you need some support at home with personal tasks such as getting washed and dressed or getting around your home and doing daily tasks, there is help available with live-in care, enabling you to retain your independence and live at home.
A professional healthcare assistant will move in to help you or your loved one with everything from personal care to companionship, cooking, cleaning, and running errands.
After the initial care assessment, MedUKCare will create a Care Plan for the carers to follow when they will look after you.
Working in teams, our carers provide 24/7 assistance to you or your loved one in the comfort of your own home.
Your carer’s main duties can be but are not limited to: Companionship, help with personal care, providing mobility support, cooking, medication assistance, cleaning, working in partnership with your GP or Community Nurse, and helping with community activities.
To comply with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations, MedUKCare’s healthcare assistants go through extensive employment checks before starting work, including enhanced DBS checks. Care Training is mandatory, and all carers have up-to-date training including Care Certificate, Infection Prevention and Control, Safeguarding, Manual Handling, Basic Life Support, Medication Practice for Domiciliary Care, and many more specific training such as Dementia, Autism, Parkinson’s and End-of-life.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is a body that regulates care provision in the UK for both care homes and domiciliary care (home care) providers, as well as GP practices, hospitals, and dentists. They review each care agency and set strict standards to which providers must adhere to.
MedUKCare is proud of our CQC rating and we work hard to keep the care standards high in line with CQC guidelines. We are currently rated as ‘Good’ in all areas.
Live-in care enables anyone with care needs to continue living in their own home with the assistance and support of a live-in carer.
We must understand your routine so that we can arrange care around your needs. Our live-in carers will need a 2-hour break at a time that is suitable in the day so that they can relax and have some ‘me’ time, allowing them to continue to provide quality care for you.
For each of our live-in clients, we usually allocate two carers that work in shifts to give you and your family much-needed consistency.
In your first week, a live-in carer moves in with you and your family. This week is a completely risk-free trial and if you are happy, then the carer can stay and care continues with the same carer.
After 2-4 weeks (this length of time is flexible to your preferences and can go up to 6 weeks) the carer will have a break and the second carer will take over, after a thorough handover with the previous carer.
While every person and situation is different, live-in care is a great option for those with greater care needs who would benefit from staying in their own home, rather than moving into a residential care home, which can be difficult for some.
The benefits of Live-in care include:
There are several ways in which the services that you receive from us may be paid for. We would be happy to discuss your circumstances so that we can advise you on the availability of Local Authority or NHS funding and the best method of paying for care.
How much you or your family member pays for home care services depends on factors like income and savings. If you or your loved one are having trouble with everyday tasks, ask your local council for a care needs assessment.
If, after this, it is agreed that you or your loved one is eligible for care at home, you may need a means test, which takes into account income and savings. If you are eligible for financial support to pay for home care, your local council can arrange these services on your behalf, or you can choose to receive direct payments so that you can arrange the services yourself.
If you or your family member are paying fees directly (called self-funding), then you will arrange and pay for your care, but we can provide advice to support you.
